    G3 Boats

    Hi,

Does anybody have any experience/stories or input concerning G3 Boats (and Yamaha Motors)? I was looking at one to use mainly in northern Wisc for musky and bass fishing, specifically the 17' Jon Boat style.

    Thanks for any feedback!

I haven't owned a G3 boat. However, a good friend owns a fishing lodge in NW Ontario. A couple of years ago, he tested a 17 foot G3 boat with a 40 HP Yamaha tiller. It worked superbly, such that he ordered six of these boats for the following season. He paired these boats with his standard 50 HP tiller Yamaha motors. These boats "plowed" horribly. The factory representatives were unable to come up with any ideas to resolve this problem. Hence, the G3 boats went away and were replaced with Lund Outfitters. I don't recall the model of the G3 boat, but suspect it was from their "commercial" lineup, as opposed the boats that we see on the "retail" market. I haven't heard if G3 resolved the issue with the boat.

Good luck with your new boat, whatever it might be!

    Hey Kevin
I had a G-3 185 with a Yamaha 200 hp... Ran it for about 7 years loved the set up.
Any problem that came up they stood behind it. A very solid combo.
The best deal I found in Fremont.

    I have a G3 17' w/ Yamaha 115 hp. Very satisified with this rig.

The G3/Yamaha tandem stacks up to anything out there.

    I have G3 Angler 167 with 60hp Yamaha 4s since 2007
Zero problems, love the boat and motor.
I put about 150 hours on the motor every year.

How much depth do you need to float that rig? A lake I fish up in N WI gets pretty shallow by the dock at the cabin.

I would say 30" with two on board, outboard down all the way
