    C Johnson Musky

Wow a lot of posts regarding this fish, so sorry if I am asking a question that may have been answered before. Has anyone who thinks the 60 inch length is authentic, explained why in the WRMA analysis figure 1(a) the paired fins on the bottom of the fish in the photo appear to be closer to the rear end of the fish / while photo 2(b) of the mount they appear to be in the middle of the fish or perhaps even toward the front of the fish? Just by simply looking at those two photos, without measurements and scientific photo analysis, it leads me to believe that the mount was made longer than the original fish.

You are right on target. In fact, I had that very discussion with Cal Johnson III yesterday. Obviously he is in denial, listening to and believing everything Dettloff tells him and unhappy with me, but "the math doesn't lie". I told him the PROOF was right there...let's open the mount case and see for sure...won't ever happen though. Dettloff will see to that.

Chucksi, the fish will measure as claimed. It is a 60" mount. Not all of that mount is in the picures.

    It's getting old pointer...

    Hiya,

Getting kinda tired of the offhand remarks. The question was a legitimate question. I don't know if I speak for others or not, but if you have nothing constructive to add to the record keeping discussions, please keep your comments to yourself. Some of us out there are interested in the subject matter and want to see where it goes. As has happened on other boards, posts have been deleted due to the lack of anything positive being added to the conversations.

Thank you for your consideration on this matter.

Search the archives for endless amounts of posts on these topics. The info hasn't changed.

Also, your post bringing such noteworthy information to my attention is really adding to the conversation..... Those types of posts make me chuckle.

    Repete,

We don't have very good ratings on the MH rating system. We should stop making having fun and kiss more ass around here to get that score up. Remember, the internet message board is a very serious medium.

In my opinion, all of those guys back in the day stretched the truth as well as their muskies. It was the culture of the day, kind of like the steroid era in baseball. And why would anyone be surprised at fishermen lying or the nicer way of saying it, stretching the truth? Itís kind of sad to admit that those old tales of huge fish were falsified, but I donít think it should reflect badly on their characters. Itís not like they were bad men, just good fishermen that got caught up in the hype. But, for the guys that just refuse to let it go for their own purposes, thatís another story. I could see where a relative of Johnson or Spray would find it hard to admit, but Detloff, etc just makes me laugh.
