planer board and fish hook ups

    Hi fellow musky fishermen,

What can I do to increase my fish hook ups on the planer board lines. All the fish I've hook shake off. I've teed the hooks, used fiberglass rods and regular rods. Should I run more line behind the board or shorter?
    Thanks,
    James

Keep the motor in gear and speed up when you get a rip. Make sure that the fish is on the line before you taking the rod out of the holder. By that I mean take your time grabbing the rod out of the holder. The boat forward momentum should set the hooks. By allowing the boat to keep the pressure on, the hooks will bury better than taking the boat out of gear and grabbing the rod.
