WATERSMEET - A northern Wisconsin man was killed Thursday evening in a snowmobile accident in the western Upper Peninsula, according to the Gogebic County Sheriff's Office.

At about 7:10 p.m., 45-year-old Patrick Sheahan of Land O' Lakes, Wis., was traveling south through a channel on Cisco Lake - a part of the Cisco Chain of Lakes - in Watersmeet Township when he struck a tree and was killed, according to police.

Low visibility may have been a contributing factor in the accident, police said.

The Gogebic County Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by the Lac Vieux Desert Tribal Police Department, Watersmeet First Responders, Vilas County Sheriff's Office/Dispatch, Conover Ambulance, Land O' Lakes First Responders/Ambulance and the owner of the Cisco Lake Resort......
