    Lightbulb extendable rods... any good?

each summer I do a trip for big pike that requires rodcases of 7' or less.
So I've always been intrigued by the Tica and Okuma's 'stored length' rods--you know with the handles that slide up and are 'telescopic" to make longer rods collapse down to 7'and under for shipping.
This would not replace my be-loved regular musky rods--but would let me fish longer rods in these remote waters.
    Any comments would be helpful.
    Thanks

I used the Okuma telescopics all last season in the 8'6" and 9'3" in all models, and they were great, once they are opened you cant even tell you are using a telescopic rod,and never had any collapse on me while fishing. Also this year they have new blanks which are supposed to be 20 percent lighter than previous models, and also come in a split grip.
