Tips for Lake Vermillion - Central Section

    Hello,
I'm staying near the Dam on Vermillion and looking for some tips on areas/types of structure I should be focusing on. Going Aug. 15th. I've fished the East end and loved it, but going with a different group. What can I expect? How does it compare? Seems to be a lot less mid-lake reefs/bars....

    I appreciate any help. Thanks.

I can't tell you that much except this is one area on the lake where you will still find good weed lines to fish.

Rusty crayfish have eaten the rest:(

Tons of weeds on the west end.

Rusty's have been diminishing, because they have eaten themselfs out of food..... Some of the Weed beds are coming back pretty good and still hold some kick asss fish.
June is a little tough but still proudces some muskies on topwater, and smaller, slower lures...

Buy mid Aug. find rocks, and reefs with weeds near by and fish dawn, and dusk hrs. The big girls will be on rocks, with a few close to the weeds

Topwaters, Gliders, Jerkbaits, Big Blades, and Pounders will get'em going..... Perka's !

I can't even imagine what the east end must have looked like 20 some years ago, every old timer tells me every bank cut and bay was full of cabbage. Imagine all those spots to fish. The weeds are coming back slowly, I have notited that over the past few years, I am sure it will never be like it used to but if people would quit keeping smallies out of the lake like they are walleyes(or becuase they can't catch walleys), it could help even more.

Well not every nook and cranny had cabbage but there were some nice beds until Mr. Rusty came along. None of these small leafed pondweed, cabbage, have returned. The rusties don't seem to bother cabbage in much versus sand or bother the large leafed, tobacco, cabbage. The tobacco is slowly coming back however some years it's good and others not.
