    Lake Alexander

I am thinking of trying this lake opening weekend. Is there anywhere to stay you recommend? Motel or resort.

The lake is worth trying, right?

There are two resorts on the lake, and if you can't get into them, you can try the motel in Randall or Brainerd. Just have to drive a few miles in the morning.

Alex can be a tough lake for the opener. With the water being so clear, it doesnt warm up as fast as dark water lakes. I have fished it almost every year on the opener. Have done well some years, with the biggest fish on opener being a nice 45". My best spots have been around Moore's point, just off the reed beds, and the shallow weedy bays where the vegatation is just starting to emerge. The small Musky Buck has been the best lure by far. Black hair with nickel blade worked fast. Hope that helps you somewhat!

Thanks for the help, maybe I'll give Mille Lacs a try instead.
