best time of year in MN

Since I have finally made a decision on what lake to go to in MN (Leech Lake) I have another question for all you Musky nuts. I was wondering what the best time of year is to go Musky fishing. Is it Summer or fall. I was looking at the last week of September. Any suggestions or comments. Thanks.

You are picking a great time to fish Minnesota. Over the last few years the late Sept period has been the most productive for me. To make your trip most productive, I would get a guide early in the trip to give you an idea what the fish are doing at that time. One risk (probably low) is that you could hit turnover on Leech at that time.

Full moon in Sept. If the weather cooperates there will definitely be fish moving.
