    Roger-

Rollie's has had a pretty good inventory lately. I tried to get some last Saturday and they were out though. They were $8/ea for the XL. Their XL run maybe 15"-16" on average. Told me to go to Kurt's but it was only a couple hour afternoon trip and we just casted. So I guess Kurt has them too but I don't shop there. If you're going further north...Dan at Townline Sports in Mani Waters usually has good suckers. Haven't bought any there this fall yet but last year I think he was at about $7 for the large. He was limiting guys to 4 suckers last year so his supply would last longer and he could help out more customers. Don't know if he is doing that again this year. Thoma's Mini Mart in Presque Isle also has good large suckers. That's where I prefer to go. They typically sell out pretty quick though. Here's the phone numbers if you want to call and check-

    Rollies - 715-356-6011
    Townline - 715-543-2371
    Thoma's - 715-686-2480

In Eagle River we have been getting 12-14" for $6.50-$8. They keep telling us that there is going to be a shortage but I haven't had a problem getting any yet. I'm not worried though, they always save a couple for us tournament guys.;-)

if you don't catch anything and you release your sucker into the water before loading up would that be considered "giving back"? or do you selfish ba$tards take your suckers home with you if you don't catch anything?

Taking live suckers off the water you just used them on is very illegal in Wisconsin except for extremely specific circumstances. In Wisconsin, live minnows in the boat with you regardless of where purchased or caught may only be taken away from a water body alive if they will be used again only on that same water body, or if no lake or river water was added to them on that water body and they were not used in that water body, or with no more than 2 gallons of water if they are intended to be kept alive and later killed and preserved using approved methods for future use as dead bait.

If they hit the water, they can't be used anywhere else. If you keep them in the livewell or a cooler and introduce lake / river water to keep them fresh, they can't be used anywhere else.

With Vilas County alone currently having 147 waters that harbor invasive species, I for one find it extremely selfish and short sighted for any musky angler to 're-use' suckers or keep unused suckers which they have added lake water to. They should ALWAYS be released or killed at the landing in those situations.

If I have any unused suckers at the end of a musky trip I wipe them down with a Shamwow and then put them in a cooler filled with AquaFina. Those boys will be ready for the next trip north! :-)
