    Radio on or off?

Thinking about casting and listening to the Packer games tonight and next Thursday. Do you guys play music or listen to games while fishing muskies? Does it hurt or help?

I know when we troll salmon it seems like it's a non-factor, but then we're fishing anywhere from 30-120 down.

The only acceptable radio playing in my boat is the Brewers or the Packers, otherwise I don't like the radio being played while we are fishing.

Back in the late 1980s i found the muskies on Lac View Desert were partial to Led Zepplin, The Who and The Stones but could care less about the Eagles, Kenny Loggins or REO Speedwagon. With the Who they responded better to the regular albums and not the rock opera stuff. As much as i liked Quadrophenia, nothing. However, Whole Lotta Love by Zepplin and Some Girls by the Stones made them go wild! I have never found a correlation to fish activity and sporting events.

Funny you mention specific songs. We had a ridiculous night one time by playing "Bad Moon Risin'" on a continuous loop while salmon fishing a rivermouth lake here in Mich. I don't really care for the song, but the guy whose boat I was on insisted when no one was catching fish. Soon we were schooling the rest of the field. I still didn't like the song enough to go buy the cassette (my boat is that old). But if the local moldy oldies station ever gets out of its Zep-Skynard - Floyd "Money" rut then maybe I'll test the song again.

I was listening to a packer game a few years back while fishing and favre threw a game ending pick. I think it was against the rams? Anyway, about a minute later I caught a nice 43incher. I still only listen to packers and crewers, but whenever favre throws a pick, I believe there's a short intense feeding window. In wisconsin anyhow.

Well, I only listen to the Packers because the Tigers station craps out as you get near Lake Mich. and the Lions have no local radio affilate. 620 AM comes in clear as a bell. Haven't listened to Larry yet this preseason.

On. Seems more fish are boated with some tunes playing. Not cranking, but some background noise. Keeps a person much more attentive than without especially if fishing solo.

The slow crap puts the fish and yourself to sleep. Gotta play some upbeat stuff. Doesn't matter if it is oldies, rock, country, or polka!

ON...doesn't distract one bit, and certainly doesn't scare away any fish...It's a great relaxer to keep the mind going and fresh, especially on those really tough days

My next boat will be satellite radio ready, no question
