Maybe the guy was a midget!?! I hope you do not have a thing against little people musky fishing...

I think somebody hasn't actually had any experience measuring or catching fish.

Every species of fish has certain lakes or regions of the globe where girths are larger or smaller than other places.

Go work for the DNR for awhile and that will become very obvious.

    How about this?
pre spawn/post spawn (full of eegs or empty)
    fatty forage base/perch based
numbers of Musky in the body of water.

    reddevil,

I don't know what you're talking about. "Every species of fish has certain lakes or regions of the globe where girths are larger or smaller than other places." What kind of a statement is this? OF course every species of fish has certain lakes or regions of the globe where girths are larger or smaller than AVERAGE for the species. Maybe if you went to work with the DNR you would learn something.

    chuckski,

Your statement: "How about this? Pre spawn/post spawn (full of eggs or empty)fatty forage base/perch based, numbers of musky in the body of water," ALL of this is IRRELEVANT! If the girth on ANY muskie is less than 45% of it's total length it is considered below average in girth REGARDLESS of the reason.

Maybe if you would inform all of us who exactly considers any muskie with a girth of less than 45% as less than average besides you, it would help your argument, a little.

An "average girth" of 45% may apply on one body of water, but not to all.

FYI I have worked for the MNDNR fisheries.
