I'm a Calcutta 400B guy I also have a couple of the old Swedish made 7000C's( the only problem with the 7000 is the weight and I miss the tumb bar on the 7000.

Look for an Australian C-4. They are not made anymore but may be on E-Bay. They have a peculiar lavender color, but they have the 4 bearings of the C-4 and the 5.3:1 ratio of a C-3.
I've got several and have had no problems, very smooth, I use one with a power handle for DCG's and no problems.

New they were in the $80 t0 90 range.

My c3' have been good, the only problems I had was the clutch arm wearing out, it was a 3 dollar piece and super easy to repair. My dad still uses his old c3 with no problems, I think it should be a great reel for your purpose.

Also, look and see if you can find a pflueger trion 66 or 55. They are around $90-100 and a GREAT reel. I know several good anglers who swear by them for big blades and ripping dawgs. I used mine for several years and it was an awesome reel.

Steve's right in the above post on the Pflueger Trions. Right now at ffo-tackle.com you can get 56x for $62.88. That's 5:3:1 and 180 yards. I bought 4 of the 66L's Lefty's, and these I use for my double 10's &13's, Pounders, Mag Dawgs, Gliders. For that price you won't go wrong. There are also lots of Abu's to choose from. I also bought 2 of the Revo STXL's from there that I have fished everything but Big blades and pounders, with them this season, so far flawless. Happy Hunting!
