    Suggestions needed, please.

I have a co-worker that wants to take his son out for a day trip before he goes back to school and he came to me for suggestions. Lives near Chicago and doesn't want to drive more than a couple of hours. I thought Geneva or Pewaukee would be good multi-species lakes to send them to but he has no boat and doesn't strike me as a 'avid' fisherman. Just a dad that wants to hang with his son, enjoy a day on the water, and maybe catch a fish or two. I suggested hiring a guide and he's all in favor of doing that.

Thoughts? Thanks for any and all suggestions.

I have a buddy who guides in the Chicago area, Indiana and Wisconsin for multiple species. He hits the big lake for salmon if the time is right, but can also guide for bass for action on area lakes or even musky in some of the southern, Wisconsin lakes. I'll send you an email with his contact info

They have boat rentals on heideke lake near morris. That place is about as multi-specie as you can get.

how many extra species come from being near the nuclear reactor in Morris?

i remember the Morris High Schoolfootball team back in the day ... they looked like the real Washington Redskins! folks swore they grew bigger kids there cuz of the reactor.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I don't think this guy would be comfortable just hopping in a boat and going out for the day. Not even sure how he's set up for tackle. Think a guide would be the way he'd prefer to go.

Thank you again. I knew this was the place to come for some great suggestions.

Sled, I fish the lake quite often. In a day you can catch a carp, catfish, walleye, drum, sunfish, musky, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, white bass, yellow bass, crappie and striper all on the same crankbait in a day and I have!

You know, I have a brother that used to live in Coal City. "Big" guy, and kinda "funny" too! In all seriousness, I agree with Todd about Heidecke--it would be a good choice for someone without a boat and you never know what you're gonna catch there, even off shore.
