    New Chrome Baits

Boy I couldn't wait till I could try out my new chrome shallow raiders. Then I get sick spend almost a month in the hospital. Finally my wife , son and I go up on the Indian Chain in Canada. Within the first hour of casting the one Slver Chrome has no paint on one side, plus no fish. By day 3 the other silver chrome has paint all gone on the same side and the orange chrome firetiger is almost comepletly paintless on both sides. I was really wanting to use these as I got the flying up to the show in Minniapolis at the end of the shows. The rep explained how hard the process is to chrome the baits but I thought that the paint would stay on better. When I got home I took the one unused orange firetiger and sprayed it with clear coat but after casting for several hours at least 40% of the paint is gone from both sides. Is anyone else having this problem? I haden't seen any posts on this subject. Doug Dible

RE: New Chrome Baitsunch of bad

I know they had some bad paint jobs out a while ago but I thought they pulled them all from retailers. Saw a similar post on M1 but it was about the tails snapping. I suggest to email Bucher and let them know along with pictures so they can #1 make it right with you #2 realize they still have some bad ones out there and #3 The pictures will help them fix the issue for future runs. I can only find this one email for them on the internet: orders@joebucheroutdoors.com

    RE: New Chrome Baits

    Hey Doug,
I don't chrome plate, but I do paint chrome on lures. Since you had trouble with a couple plated lures, would you like to send me one that has lost all it's chrome and let me have a whack at it at my exspense?
I'll chrome paint it for you and send it back and you test it good and let me know how it holds up. I have been chroming on wood lures but haven't really given plastic a try as yet.
We could both learn something out of this and if it holds up better, than you and I both have gained something. All you will have in it is the mailing it to me, I will take care of mailing it back to you.
    You can't beat that offer.
    Let me know,
    Stan

    RE: New Chrome Baits

Joe sent me a jointed depthraider in Blue and silver chrome to try out. It has held up great I have about 10 fish on it and it is holding up good. Has small hook rash from trolling but that is to be expected on any bait. Can't wait for them to come out in stores.
    Good Luck,

I dont know if these were from an early batch because the one that seemed to hold up has a completely different brand of hook on it. Doug Dible

FYI-If you want a rock hard perfect chrome on your lure repaint try Dutch Fork lures too. They use a trade secret application process to chrome. Plastic or wood, he does a great job.
