    Big Southern Musky!

Who says you can't catch a big musky in the south? Most folks I know would call a 45 lbr very big! Looks like this one may qualify as a new Virginia state record.

    There's another pic at http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/fishing...aterecords.asp

    Apparently it was 53X24.5".

45lbers are VERY big (in fact, so are 40lb'ers). Most will never see one. There are lots of 50"+ fish that don't go north of 40lbs, or the low 40s; namely many with girths under 25".

I am hoping to get on the New later this month. I hear it has some sumo smallies as well.

Looks like 4 state records come from the New including the smallmouth which stands at 8 lbs 1 oz. Awesome!

I will be staying at the New River Junction Campground with a bunch of smallie guys that fish from toons, yaks, canoes and jets. It's should be a hoot! :7

Good looking fish and thick by formula it goes 40 pounds as we all know formulas are only guessimates alot of fish we catch weight less then what we think! Well this one is five pounds heavier then formula.
