'94 ... maybe look for a VS in a couple years and crawl a couple rungs up the ladder. some boats just maintain value at a certain level and it's nice to be in the ones that do so that you can always be on the watch to upgrade without spending jingle.

what year was yours? had to be hard to part with it!!

RE: jim ... your origimal 690

mine was a 95.....the exact year I was looking for.

Two reasons, 95 vs the 96-99 years the rod locker is longer in the 95....my 8-6" rods fit with ease. (95 livewell is slightly shorter and missing the cooler on the port side)

Second reason was 95 was the first year I bought a new boat.....really wanted a ranger 690 but money at the time was a huge issue. Vowed one day to own a 690.

To answer your question, yes it was tough to see her go after only having it for 1 season. Current rig is my "2nd rig" small jon boat with a 15 hp.

House in rhinelander still isn't sold, paying for second in the fox valley area and for lake property we own in the rhinelander area.....along with the other family expenses, yea money is tight. Waiting for something to break and will step back into something a little larger for this season. I do have my eyes on a 98 690.....

I also have purchased one of Jim's old boats. 1996 690VS. Got it for Christmas{thanks again sweetie]. No muskies in it yet but some bass at a bass tournament I just fished.

Here is a blast from the past. Not a good photo, but Rollie Basset's 690 last year on the Wisconsin River. I still keep her in immaculate condition
