Pud was at his finest throughout!~
Be careful out there as very few of the hazards are marked!
TJB: Ya, you never know, but don't worry about the "jinx". I eat bananas before going out!! Weighing them in the boat has no affect on scale accuracy unless it is bouncing in waves. If it is windy or...
TJB: Thanks for the compliment. As for weighing fish, the ones you noted were "special" to you and with the method you are using, I see no problem with doing so. The numbers you indicate could in no...
By the way, I could not in good conscience compare my recent accomplishment to the likes of Tom Gelb who "did it the hard way" in capturing a 50+ pounder from inland Wisconsin waters, row trolling in...
Can't tell you the number of summer muskies we have caught trolling with NO line out...just the leader! Fun to watch them jump right over the motor at 5m.p.h.!
CW is correct that socks can make a big difference. Recently had an opportunity to try a pair of CEP (cepsportsusa.com). Very thin and very warm. Down to 10 degrees I needed no other sock and below,...
Agree with Steve on Nip. The French River has several sections, so you would need to pick one...upper (connects to Nip), middle (small and deep and not a numbers game) or the Delta (lower). Likely...
Evidently this fish (identified by markings) was found floating; put on a bump board and measured at 55 inches...
Certainly a GIANT! Knocking on the door of the Modern Day World Record (www.modernmuskierecords.org) "IF" the measurements were accurate and the fish was kept (the "approximate" girth measurement...
Not sure about any percentages, but 5 of the top 10 finishers in the St. Clair PMTT last weekend were on Medussa's!
My suggestion would be to be sure and keep a tight line as you let the lure drop...
mcbuck: You are trolling too deep. Also, look for weed beds in shallower water either in the mid river or shoreline areas and cast jerk bait and troll the edges with spinner baits. If weeds are in...
Number 5 Mepp's will catch all sizes of muskies all the time...deadly!
Our Hayward Muskies, Inc. chapter's Bob Reinert worked hard on this and it is great to see it come to fruition and Bob get some credit. Can't wait to get mine.
Not unless you want to take it back to ILL or another state.
Steve: Great article, and I agree completely with you calling "bucktails" spinners. In fact, that is exactly what they are. In the late 1800's, they tied the hooks with chicken feathers, but the term...
Steve: Thank you for the nice post about my new book.
Correction on the postage: Soft bound is $7.95 and I will only ship the hardbound Priority insured at $9.95. UNFORTUNATELY, postage to Canada...
Steve: YES! Have photo's of same...
Pud: Damn glaciers...
Didn't have these great events when I was in High School...Born too soon!
rnovak: Nice trump of my offer...how about I toss in a free trip to Muskie nirvana?
"The Wisconsin state record for an inland musky is 69 pounds, caught in the Hayward area, back in 1949."
If you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell...
Muskies in the south average 12 years, but in the north, they can live to 30 years and more, but average closer to the low 20's.
Or it could more realistically be 13" or slightly over...Giant fish however!
The harvest tag doesn't cost anything!
