I am going here for the first time in September, and am looking for suggestions/hints. I contacted the Sudbury chapter of Muskies Inc. but got no reply. Their site indicates a recent outing there.

This is the Trout Lake just NW of Noelville and the French River, not the one near North Bay.

Hi, I fished Trout Lake (near Noelville) once about
5 years ago and came up empty. It was my first and only
time on the lake (I was staying at nearby
Lake Nipissing-West Arm), so I'm sure if you put in some
time you will find some muskies. This is a long narrow lake,
and it seems most anglers fish very tight to the shorelines; something I don't normally do when fishing for muskies. I have
had luck in nearby waters, including Nipissing and Nosbonsing.
Good luck.

I was there for the opener last year. I think its a good musky lake with beautiful scenery!
Caught one little one on a black & silver Buchertail willowbuck and had another one following, but not hitting, a black surface bait, multiple times. We spent 3 days fishing there.
The lake has nice, mid-lake rock reefs and several nice cabbage weed beds. The muskies we saw there were all near that big island complex where the lake gets narrow.
We casted while there, but we observed local anglers trolling deep water for pike & musky. The resort owner said most muskies are taken trolling. There is at least one bay there that gets close-to, or over 100 ft deep.
Maybe the boys in Sudbury haven't replied to you because they don't want other anglers harassing the fish there !

Hi There,
Have you fished Nip this year?
If so how have you faired? Heading up next week?

Any input would be appreciated !
