The world’s largest musky fishing tournament — the National Championship Musky Open — will be held in Eagle River, WI, next week.
This event, which is the largest fundraiser for the Musky Clubs Alliance of Wisconsin, annually draws around 1,300 anglers who compete for trophies. During the awards ceremony on Sunday, two fully-rigged Ranger boats with Mercury outboards will be given away, one to a tournament angler and another to a person who purchased a raffle ticket from an Alliance member in advance of the tournament.
The tournament is jointly sponsored by the Alliance and the Eagle River Area Chamber of Commerce.
The Alliance represents about 10,000 musky fishermen from about 25 member clubs throughout Wisconsin, including both independent musky clubs and Muskies Inc. chapters.
Rhinelander, WI, guide Andy Hendrickson will provide a fishing update seminar to tournament anglers at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 15.
Musky Hunter magazine managing editor Steve Heiting will again be the tournament’s master of ceremonies.
