 Field Editor Jim Bortz began writing for Musky Hunter Magazine in 1998 and has made regular appearances in the publication ever since. His unique writing style and off-the-wall sense of humor have made his stories popular with readers everywhere.
Bortz has been fishing for muskies since he was a teenager and it became an obsession in his early 20s. Now he fishes his native Pennsylvania, as well as New York and Ontario, constantly exploring new waters and innovative techniques.
Jim has always enjoyed sharing his success with other fisherman. He regularly conducts seminars at sports shows as well as on the water. He also makes occasional appearances on The Musky Hunter television show.
Jim makes his living as a wildlife artist and his critically acclaimed paintings have appeared in calendars and on magazine covers, including Musky Hunter. His illustrations and photographs appear are regularly used to enhance the pages of Musky Hunter.
As an avid bowhunter and outdoorsman, Bortz spend many days afield following his love of the sporting lifestyle. Well-versed in biology and natural history, spending a day afield with Jim is an experience not soon to be forgotten.
Jim serves on the pro staff of Triton Boats, Mercury, St. Croix Rods and Legend Lures.
