Place was sold a couple years ago to a private owner. Heard it was the owner of Marvin Windows in Warroad. He was building a new place on the island with a nice southern exposure last time I drove by.

Frolanders is as close as you can get to the location and atmoshpere of MBL. They only have American plan, though. Sandy's Blackhawk Island is several miles south with both American and housekeeping plans.

I vote for Angle Outpost also. Canadian sales tax is up to 13% this year! I love the fact that I can stay in Minn and pay Minn gas prices and being able to drive right to your cabin is another plus.

Sandys is a whole right hand turn and a straightaway south of monument for a total of about 3 Mins. Bill and his parents were the ones who started Monument. I highly recommend Sandy's Blackhawk Island camp as this year will be our 8th consecutive year there.

I have stayed at Angle Outpost too and it is really nice but it is so far from where we want to fish. The friend that is going with has a 16-foot boat with a 40hp. Plus we have four boys going and we want to hit a couple walk-in lakes for smallies. I will check with Frolanders. Had some good experiences at Monument Bay lodge... too bad.

If you can afford it, Frolanders would be perfect. With that size boat, you would be in a area where if the wind picked up from any direction, you could still find wind blocked fishable water, close by in just about any direction.
