It was late October in northern Minnesota. The temperature was 37 degrees with an east wind of 10 miles per hour and a light rain all day when I caught these two fish. I caught the larger fish one hour after sundown on a Wednesday night and the smaller fish one hour before sunup the very next morning, both came off of the same spot. . The larger fish was 49 1/2" long and the shorter one was probably 44". I didn't have time to measure the short one since it fought so hard and I wanted to get it back in the water, but the girth on both fish is really nice. I was by myself for both fish and I have the tri-pod for the camera mounted to a seat post, thats how I got the pictures taken. I like the work you guys do, great magazine!! I was fishing in late October in northern Minnesota.

I just started Musky fishing 2008 with my boyfriend Jason who’s been an active Muskie fisherman for 8 years now. We started dating March 2008 and he took me on my first Muskie trip in June we started fishing around 5:30 am Saturday fished all day and night and followed the same routine Sunday. I had no luck Saturday and Sunday I had one follow my line and I FROZE WHILE DOING MY FIGURE 8 what a disappointment! We had quite a wait for our next Muskie fishing trip together the end of June I broke my collarbone wish I could say it was from catching a big Muskie, but it was diving after a softball that I did end up catching.

In October we went on our second Muskie trip together Jason my boyfriend did great he caught 3 muskies that weekend! I on the other hand didn’t, but I did reel in a pike happy to catch something, but ready to give up on Muskie fishing. Until Jason told me it took him and his dad several trips to get their first Muskie.

In November we decided to do a weekend of Salmon fishing and Muskie fishing. We left for Milwaukee on a Saturday morning to go Salmon fishing on Lake Michigan. We had no luck Saturday so we were a little bummed out. So we decided to get up at 5:30 am Sunday so we could give it another try at Lake Michigan for Salmon! Well, we were happy with our results we came back with 3 Salmons and a brown trout. Jason got 2 Salmons and I got a Salmon and a brown trout. My Salmon gave me quite a fight; I have a football stand when reeling in a fish that’s over 20 lbs we saw this past weekend. So we left for Muskie fishing in Madison we got on the lake around noon. By 4pm we hadn’t got a muskie so I asked Jason what time do you plan on getting off the lake and he said well if we catch any in the next ½ hour we’ll be here until 7pm and if we don’t we’ll get off 4:30-5. With in 5 minutes Jason had a hit we got it reeled in not his biggest Muskie, but still very happy and about 5 minutes later I caught my first MUSKIE 36” long!! I was screaming amd crying and jumping. Needless to say I wanted to keep fishing until I got another.

I can now say I’m a PROUD Muskie Hunter and will keep at it because it’s worth the wait!! This was the best day of my life I accomplished so much in one day what a feeling! I still have a rush when talking about my story. I had a hard time getting to sleep that night thinking about my Muskie and I woke Jason up saying get the net because I had a Muskie. I think I’m loosing it!!

This fish was caught after seeing the fish and making only one cast, first cast of the day on Silver Lake in southern Wisconsin , on a top water lure and then it was released.

I am an avid reader and a definite Musky Hunter. I fish Webster and Barbee with Mike Hulbert a few times a year and caught some great fish. However, I also fish Canyon Lake in Vermillion Bay, Ontario every summer. Here is a picture of the beast I caught on Tuesday, July 15th.

I thoroughly enjoy the magazine, articles and tips. I learn something from every issue. Thanks
